Capnamo 500 Tablet contains Capecitabine 500 mg, an oral chemotherapy medicine used to treat several types of cancer, including colorectal (colon and rectal), breast, and gastric (stomach) cancers. It is a prodrug that is converted inside the body into 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), a powerful anti-cancer agent that targets rapidly dividing cancer cells. This targeted activation helps slow the growth and spread of cancer while reducing damage to healthy tissues compared with traditional chemotherapy. Capnamo 500 is prescribed either as a standalone treatment or in combination with other chemotherapy medications, depending on the type and stage of cancer. The dosage is individualized based on body surface area, medical condition, and response to treatment. The tablet should be taken within 30 minutes after a meal, swallowed whole with water, and only under the supervision of an oncologist. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, mouth sores, and hand-foot syndrome (redness, pain, or peeling of the palms and soles). Regular blood tests are recommended during treatment to monitor blood cell counts, liver function, and kidney function. Patients should immediately report severe diarrhea, fever, unusual bleeding, or signs of infection to their healthcare provider. Capnamo 500 should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the risk of harm to the baby.
